Colin and I served in a Central Asian country almost 30 years ago with a Mission Agency called InterServe for 12 years. It seems like only yesterday. For security reasons, we cannot print the names of people or the country but you are very welcome to ask one of us about our time there.
God opened many doors and opportunities for both of us during our time of 7 years in the city and 5 years in a mountainous regional city.
Colin’s main roles were teaching IT in Universities, being part of a radio program in English on the local Radio stations, electronic projects and supporting the Youth from our church in IT.
My main role was teaching English and this over time, reached a wide variety of groups from neighbour’s children, youth from our Church, connecting with adults listeners of the Radio stations, university students and supporting J*** as we ran a program in one of the local Kindergartens for disadvantaged children ( some with disabilities too).
In all of this, the main thing was all about relationships with people as God brought them into our lives. Over time and trust, we were able to share about Jesus and God’s love with them.
Last year in May, during our visit back there, we were able to meet up with quite a few of the special people that we stay connected with, including M*** and J*** and A*** who we also sponsor with some members of MLCC.
M*** was our shepherd at the House church, Both M*** & J*** have a heart for sharing God’s love with their people and especially disadvantaged families.
They now live in the Southern area of the country where God called them to be. This area is a spiritually challenging place. Those who are seeking Jesus often do it secretly without their family knowing for fear of persecution or being disowned by their families.
M*** & J*** have found opportunities to share God’s love with families through holding Summer Camps.

(M** & J** are sitting in the middle)
Here’s what they recently wrote to us:
Yes, we are planning to have two camps this summer, one in **** and another one in ****.
In *****, we are thinking to have about 80-100 children, and in *our home region* about 50-60 children. We already have some supporters for the first camp. But for “our home region” camp we need some financial support, maybe around 1700-1800 US dollars. We have one sister, and her church in USA will help us with part of it (I think they will give us 1000 dollars). So, it will be wonderful if you and your church could help us with rest of it.
Usually to the first camp we used to send 20-30 children. After camps we don’t do any other activities, because most of those kids live in villages. But we have connections with their parents, so we invite them to our holidays like Christmas or Easter. So, we try to send the same children from previous years to the first camp.
This year, in “our home region”, we are going invite new children for a camp. We are planning to start a new ministry in one village through the camp. It this village we have one brother and our ministry will help us to visit and support him in his faith in safe way
Thank you and your church for so many years praying for us and involving yourself in our lives here and sharing our burdens. We love you and praising our Father for you

Here’s your opportunity to help support M*** and J***
We are going to have SOUP ON SUNDAYS in JULY and AUGUST for fundraising for their Summer Camps ministry. As in previous years, you can help by making a pot of soup and making financial donations to enjoy a cup of soup after worship with warm fellowship. Last year we raised AUD$800. A magnificent effort.
Let’s see what we can do this year to support M*** and J***.
See Maureen about volunteering to make a pot of soup!! 😊😊
